Priorities

Creating Clean, Safe & Beautiful Public Spaces
We will pick up trash, remove graffiti, maintain our public spaces, and address blighted buildings. We will do this by expanding volunteer efforts, city services and work training programs for youth and people experiencing homelessness.
Fighting for Working People, Families & Seniors
City services – libraries, utilities, Parks and Recreation programs – must put working people, youth and seniors first. These services must be accessible, welcoming and affordable. We will also proactively plan for and resist attacks by the Trump Administration on our most vulnerable neighbors.
Filling Vacant Storefronts & Creating Jobs
Housing and jobs are essential elements of a strong city. We will prioritize supporting existing and new local businesses. We will build housing to address the affordability crisis while ensuring those projects don’t overwhelm adjacent neighborhoods.
Being Prepared, Connected & Strong When Disaster Strikes
Natural and man-made disasters will come. We need to plan, build resilient systems, and then create networks to connect and care for each other. The city must be prepared for future fires, severe weather events, floods and earthquakes.
Enacting Effective Solutions to Homelessness
We will end camping in our public spaces by offering shelter to our unhoused neighbors. We will utilize state laws to ensure treatment and accountability for those suffering from addiction and mental health issues. Santa Cruz will prioritize local families and strongly advocate that other communities do their fair share to help those in need.
Ensuring City Government is Responsive & Transparent
The City will share year-over-year metrics on our progress (or lack thereof) in ensuring a safe, healthy, and vibrant community for every Santa Cruzan.
